County Camp

County Camp – Collon

13th-15th April

Met at hall at 6pm in Friday, load van/trailer. Get dropped to campsite in Collon.

To get to campsite take Collon exit off Motorway. Follow road for a few miles until you see a sign for “dump/recycle centre” on the right, take the left turn at this crossroads, the campsite is 1.5 miles up on the right hand side. We will probably all drive together anyway.

Scouts will work in a patrol against other troops, more fun than competition. They will cook for themselves, pitch their tents build tables, gates etc and do bases on Saturday in the forest and fields next to the campsite. They will have no help from the leaders over the few days but of course then can come to us if they need anything. Points will be lost if seen using a mobile phone so best not to take one. The group pays for the camp but we will need €5 per scout for food. The scouts came up with the menu, we will buy the food.

Scouts need their normal camping gear for a two night camp, sleeping bag, groundmat, change of clothes, raingear, coat, torch, knife, fork, spoon, plate, mug, bowl, washgear, socks, boots etc etc. They will also need a full uniform consisting of shirt, trousers, belt, black socks and dark shoes/boots and a 1st Louth necker. Scouts must also bring a tea towel each.

The camp will finish at 1.30pm on Sunday. Once we leave the site we will have to go back to the hall to leave the gear back, any help would be very helpful.

I can get a trailer to take the gear but I may not have access to a car with a towbar. If any parent has a van or a towbar and can do the trip to colon and back can you please let me know. My number is 0877776153.

I have probably forgotten something, if you need any more info please send me a text.

See you on Friday.
Allan
